Assumptions generate misunderstandings and misunderstandings create conflict.

Paraphrase increases clarity reducing conflict.

To paraphrase is to express the meaning of (something written or spoken) using different words, especially to achieve greater clarity.

Clarity reduces conflict.

Paraphrasing means formulating someone else's ideas in your own words either verbally or in writing to gain clarity and understanding of the person's statement. 

To paraphrase a source, you have to use your own words without changing the meaning of the original statement, sentence or paragraph.
