Hi, I'm Alan Cox from Brainy Gecko.

My question for you this week is about the gut feelings you get when something doesn't feel right.

Bad vibes?
Have you ever taken an instant dislike to someone or had the feeling that something just wasn't right but  you weren't sure why?
When your alert unconscious mind detects a lack of congruence between the words, tone of voice, and body language then an internal alarm is triggered. When your unconscious mind detects a  mismatch, your brain generates feelings of unease inside you.
You find yourself wondering, 'I don't know why, but I just don't like him or her.' Trust your gut and listen to your feelings because they are your unconscious speaking to you.

Good vibes?
When the words, tone and body language match your brain relaxes, and you experience a sense of comfort, of ease. You don't know why, but you get good vibes from them.

Of course, when you experience positive or negative vibes from another person, you must check them out because they they could be wrong.

You challenge for the week is to tune into your unconscious mind and listen to your gut feelings when meeting someone for the first time.

Remember, Listening is Responding to the Other Person's message.

Have fun, and I'll see you next week.

Are You A Good Listener?

Almost everyone sincerely believes that he or she is a good listener.

Yet, research shows that only about 10% of people know how to listen effectively.

Take this weekly challenge and find out for yourself if you could improve your ability to listen effectively.

Do you realise just how powerful your brain is?

Well, we speak at around 120–180 words per minute, but our brain can process between 400 and 800 words a minute. That is a lot of spare brain power. The problem is that 10% of people know how to use it productively.

Research demonstrates that 90% of people are thinking about how they are going to respond rather than really listening to the other person.

Your challenge for this week? .

Be aware of what is happening inside your mind when someone is speaking to you.

Are You Really Listening, or Just waiting for your turn to Talk? Be honest with yourself. 🙂

When you're listening to a person tell a story what are you thinking about? Is it a story or event from your past that you're dying to share?

Reflection

How often did you find yourself waiting for them to pause so you can have your say?

When they were telling you about an experience they had, did you think about a similar experience?

What are you thinking about? Be honest.

Remember, Listening is Responding to the Other Person's message.

Have fun, and I'll see you next week.
